Standar Nasional Indonesia, or SNI, is Indonesia’s national standards system. A standard is not automatically a mandatory market approval: particular regulations make specified products subject to compulsory requirements, while other certification can be voluntary. The product definition and current implementing regulation determine the route.
Product certification is carried out by an appropriately scoped product certification body, commonly called an LSPro. Its accreditation and any required regulatory designation must fit the product. The certification project should link the manufacturer, factory, brand and intended Indonesian supply arrangement to the exact standard and scheme.
