01 / THE BIG PICTURE
KCs safety certification is part of Korea’s occupational safety framework. KOSHA describes a system that assesses both the safety of specified products and the manufacturer’s technical capability and production system. It is a distinct route from consumer electrical KC requirements and RRA radio conformity assessment.
The right pathway depends on the precise equipment category. Hazardous machinery, protective devices, personal protective equipment and certain explosion-proof products can involve different technical criteria. Begin with the machine’s function, operating conditions and safety features rather than assuming that every industrial product follows one certification process.
Explore the requirements02 / WHERE IT APPLIES
Start with your product’s intended use and category. Here are some of the applications covered in this service.
Assess covered presses, lifting equipment and similar machinery by category.
Review product-specific performance and manufacturing controls.
Define guarding, protective functions and intended machinery integration.
These are examples. The applicable route depends on your product specifications and target market.
03 / THE PATH FORWARD
Move from the first assessment to a documented compliance plan, with clear responsibilities and evidence for your product.
Classify equipment under the relevant Korean occupational safety mechanism.
Organize safety drawings, calculations and performance evidence.
Coordinate production capability records and assessment responses.
Review scope, information and continuing certification obligations.
One connected workflow, with your product at the center.

6 topics in this guide
Check the current KCs product scope against the actual machine or protective device. KOSHA lists categories including presses, cranes, lifts, pressure vessels and certain other hazardous machinery. Mandatory safety certification and autonomous safety confirmation are separate mechanisms, so classification determines the subsequent work.
Prepare a technical description of the final machine, including guarding, interlocks, control functions and emergency provisions. For protective equipment, capture materials, performance ratings and usage limitations. A useful design review connects each identified hazard with the protective measure and evidence supporting it.
Collect drawings, calculations, component information and existing test results relevant to the applicable criteria. Explain how the sample represents the production design. Translation and terminology should be consistent across manuals and drawings so reviewers can follow safety functions without ambiguous component names.
KCs assessment considers production capability as well as the product. Organize inspection procedures, equipment controls and records that demonstrate consistent output. A practical factory preparation exercise should follow one product through incoming materials, assembly, final inspection and handling of nonconforming goods.
Review the resulting scope, identification and applicable marking conditions before release. Instructions should reflect the assessed product, foreseeable operating conditions and necessary protective measures. A certificate for one design should not be presented as covering unrelated machinery or additional safety performance that was never assessed.
Build certificate conditions and any required follow-up assessments into production planning. Notify relevant parties when safety components, factory arrangements or designs change. Equipment installation, workplace operation and any separate inspection duties should be reviewed alongside product certification, because a product approval does not resolve every employer obligation.
Try “testing”, “documents” or “process”.
Requirements vary by product, intended use and market. Confirm the applicable standards and current regulatory route before proceeding.
05 / A LITTLE MORE CLARITY
Practical answers to common questions about KCs Safety Certification.
No. KCs here concerns covered occupational safety products; consumer electrical and radio routes are separate.
No. The listed category, technical definition and applicable exemptions determine the route.
Not generally by itself. The applicable certification process also addresses manufacturing capability and supporting documentation.
Its acceptance depends on the relevant criteria and any applicable recognition arrangements; confirm before relying on it.
